Just a Mom, trying to stay sane

I have this rule… I try not to regret anything I have or haven’t done. I feel that everything in my past, good and bad, has made me the person I am today and led me to where I’m at. I wouldn’t go back in time to change things, because I wouldn’t want to lose my husband or kids. However, there are just a few things I regret not getting a chance to do before I settled down. One of the big ones involves living abroad.

When I was in high school, I has the opportunity to become a foreign exchange student. I didn’t apply for a few reasons. One, it would involve me moving to Spain for a semester and my spanish wasn’t even CLOSE to being good enough to make me comfortable doing that. And two, I wasn’t at a point where I could leave my family for that long. Besides, if I ever had the choice, I’d have wanted to go to someplace like England, Scotland, or Ireland.
Since I wasn’t going to do the exchange program (Spain was all that was offered), I decided that, when I graduated, I was going to spend 6 months in Ireland. Due to a number of different reasons that I won’t go in to, I didn’t do it. I’m sure if I had really pushed for it, I could have made it happen, but I just let it slip through my fingers.
I’m sure the Mr and I will get the chance to travel all over the world when we’re older, especially if he becomes a published author (fingers crossed), and that’s something I’m really looking forward to. This just happens to be one of those things I wish I had done before I became a responsible adult.

I really am looking forward to traveling with the Mr later. We’ve got all kinds of places we want to go, Iceland, Norway, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, to name a few. I want to spend a year just traveling the world. Spending a month in each place before moving on to the next. I’d love to give my kids that kind of cultural education. There’s some wonderful things out there and it just isn’t the same to read about them online.
What about you? If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Nice post! The country that I live, India, itself has many places with diverse climate and cultures. I would like to explore my country first and then would travel to England, Ireland, Spain and turkey.
I would only like to travel to these places but not reside because ‘HOME WILL ALWAYS BE HOME’ 🙂

    • I’m not sure if I’d ever be able to live long term in another country, heck, I had a hard enough time living in another STATE for a year, but I’d certainly love to try. India is one place I’d love to visit, as well.
